For all you mothers out there reading this, “Happy Mother’s Day.” For all you women out there yet to be mothers, or never exactly had the opportunity to be that I wish you a

“happy day as well.”

There are several references to mothers in the Bible, and plenty of good examples as well. The world doesn’t seem to think motherhood is enough. We live in a society where women are trying to prove they are as tough or tougher than men. They drive the big trucks, take aim at men’s sports, and even trek off to war. It’s obvious that they “can” and “do” some of those things…but what were mothers designed by God to do? First and foremost be mothers.

Titus 2:4-5 “Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be

self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

This is a far cry from what the world says. I know enough to know that not every situation works out this way. Some mothers become single mothers and thus take on the bread winner or dad role. Others take on the bread winner spot due to a variety of unspoken reasons.

The point of this short article is to say that “Motherhood matters.”

As you know, God put you in that position (and not everyone gets that opportunity or responsibility) and it matters just as much as any other position…or more (though you work harder and get paid less and realistically paid nothing at all).

Take advantage of it: make memories, enjoy the growing up process, and be sure to train your kid(s) in the ways of the Lord. You really do have the potential of being the greatest influence in your kids lives. Case in point: I Watch the cop shows and see who the criminal wants to call when they get arrested…their mothers!

Don’t neglect your family at the sake of trying to satisfy the world’s view of women and mothers, because

“Motherhood matters.”
